Should a player accumulate his third cautionary card during the current season, maintaining a clean sheet over the following five fixtures would result in the forfeiture of one caution, thereby reducing his total from three to two. As it stands, this athlete is still eligible for two instances of the "good conduct incentive" within the Major League Soccer regular season. Should this athlete manage to remain unmarked by either red or yellow cards, or face no additional disciplinary actions, over the next five games, his tally of cautionary cards would be trimmed by another. This would leave him with just one caution and one remaining opportunity for the "good conduct incentive."
